Humdinger

August 7, 2009 by strengthofheart

So, here I am again, almost a month since my last post. I figured now was the time to release all my inner frustrations and thoughts and then I’ll have a new and cleansed soul. And here we go…

1. I dislike it when people blow stop signs. They are there for a reason. Stopping at stop signs may save lives! Remember that!

2. People should not laugh or make fun of other people’s differences. How would you feel if people were doing that to you?

3. Abuse of any kind is not right and should not be tolerated.

4. Don’t be immature. Face up to what you’ve done wrong and don’t rub it in other people’s faces when you’ve done something right.

5. Don’t be wasteful, by any means. We only have one Earth.

6. Don’t lie. I mean really, don’t lie.

7. Give thanks to God for something everyday.

8. Don’t begrudge someone a blessing.

9. Respect your family and know that they love you.

10. Remember, God Is Love.

11. Don’t forget who you are or where you come from.

12. Dance.

13. Laugh.

14. Love.

15. Live.

16. Love your family and friends with all your heart.

17. Speak good English (or whatever language); we seriously need to return to English 101

18. Don’t tailgate other drivers. Not only is it really annoying, but it’s very dangerous.

19. Don’t swear with the Lord’s name. Please, don’t.

20. Respect women. Come on guys, you need us and we go through so much.

21. Be safe and smart.

I suppose that will do for now. I’m sure there will be more as time goes on. God’s Peace!

Quotes

July 16, 2009 by strengthofheart

These are the quotes from my Facebook page. I figure I should put them all here so I can begin a new list on my FB page.

“God never gives us more than we can handle.”

“Listen to your gut instinct, it’s God’s voice at work.”

“Christ is the true day star.” – Henry Morris

“If you fail to prepare, you’d better be prepared to fail.”

“If you live to be 100, I hope I live to be 100 minus 1 day, so I never have to live without you.” – Winnie the Pooh

“Can this wait?” – Annah’s phone

“I can’t find the pita.” – Pastor Jim

“I’m gonna check the DOPPLER!” – Mandy in imitation of her husband.

“I’m at the head of the 3-year old class. It’s only my 23rd time through.” – Ted

“When you reach the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on.” – FDR

“I hope Megan is the kind of teacher who can find the Michael Phelps’ of the world.” – My mom

“After all… I’m just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her.” – Notting Hill

“You’re doing a lot of naughty things with a spoon.” – My Mom

(in reference to Madame Tussauds)
“I wonder what would happen if someone turned up the heat in there.” (reading something off of the website) “Be knee-deep in the original cast of MASH.” – Jaycob
“Literally.” – Me

“Well that was dumb.” – Me
“It’s a Popsicle joke.” – Annah

(After being told by a weather warning that we should ‘be prepared to take action’ due to heavy snow) “I’ll have my shovel ready!!” – Annah

“To be a Montessori teacher, you need to have the patience of a saint, the skill of a scientist, and the spirit of an artist.” – Mary MacIntosh

I know it’s my destiny to leave more than a trace of myself in this place. I wanna do something that matters, say something different, something that sets the whole world on it’s ear. I wanna do something better, with the time I’ve been given and I wanna try to touch a few hearts in this life and leave nothing less than something that says I was here. – Lady Antebellum “I Was Here”

“CHRISTIANS”
Maya Angelou

When I say… “I am a Christian”
I’m not shouting “I’m clean livin.”
I’m whispering “I was lost,”
Now I’m found and forgiven.

When I say…”I am a Christian”
I don’t speak of this with pride.
I’m confessing that I stumble
and need CHRIST to be my guide.

When I say… “I am a Christian”
I’m not trying to be strong.
I’m professing that I’m weak
and need HIS strength to carry on.

When I say… “I am a Christian”
I’m not bragging of success.
I’m admitting I have failed
and need God to clean my mess.

When I say… “I am a Christian”
I’m not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible
but, God believes I am worth it

When I say… “I am a Christian”
I still feel the sting of pain,
I have my share of heartaches
So I call upon His name.

When I say… “I am a Christian”
I’m not holier than thou,
I’m just a simple sinner
who received God’s good grace, somehow.

Song Lyrics To Touch The Heart

July 8, 2009 by strengthofheart

These Are The Words I Would Say by Sidewalk Prophets

Three in the morning,
And I’m still awake,
So I picked up a pen and a page,
And I started writing,
Just what I’d say,
If we were face to face,
I’d tell you just what you mean to me,
I’d tell you these simple truths,

Be strong in the Lord and,
Never give up hope,
You’re going to do great things,
I already know,
God’s got his hand on you so,
Don’t live life in fear,
Forgive and forget,

But don’t forget why you’re here,
Take your time and pray,
These are the words I would say,

Last time we spoke,
You said you were hurting,
And I felt your pain in my heart,
I want to tell you,
That I keep on praying,
Love will find you where you are,
I know cause I’ve already been there,
So please hear these simple truths,

Be strong in the Lord and,
Never give up hope,
You’re going to do great things,
I already know,
God’s got his hand on you so,
Don’t live life in fear,
Forgive and forget,
But don’t forget why you’re here,
Take your time and pray,
These are the words I would say,

From one simple life to another,
I will say,
Come find peace in the Father,

Be strong in the Lord and,
Never give up hope,
You’re going to do great things,
I already know,
God’s got his hand on you so,
Don’t live life in fear,
Forgive and forget,
But don’t forget why you’re here,
Take your time and pray,
Thank God for each day,
His love will find a way,
These are the words I would say

NCIS

June 24, 2009 by strengthofheart

I was watching a marathon of the wonderful television show NCIS today and, as most of us know, my favorite character is Agent Tony DiNozzo, in spite of the jerkish behavior he carries around most of the time. You can tell that when it counts, he’s on the right page. I didn’t realize it until now, but I think my favorite Dinozzo quote came from an episode I saw again today called Corporal Punishment. In it, the NCIS team tries to find a soldier who is suffering from severe drug-induced mental health issues. There is a scene between Tony and McGee that really got to me, and, I’m ashamed to admit, I’ve never paid much attention to until today. Tony and McGee are watching the security tape of the soldier in his hospital room and here is how their short, but poignant exchanges goes:                                                                                     DiNozzo:Wow.                                                                                                                                                                                                        McGee: What? No funny movie reverence?
DiNozzo: It’s not funny.

Simply amazing, considering the character’s history.

Alison and Zander’s Wedding

June 23, 2009 by strengthofheart

Well, I’m back from a wonderful trip to South Carolina to see my best friend get married! It was a wonderful time, and so many things happened or were said that will always stay with me. I road tripped it up with Annah and Danielle in a Honda Ridgeline truck (which I truly enjoyed by the way). Here is a sampling of the things that I will always remember about this amazing time:

“Little did I know what was behind the beads…” – Annah

“Drive about 932 miles to Greenville, South Carolina.” – Lola

The trip Annah and I made to the ghetto/gangster Wendy’s. (I give the Wendy’s this title because on one side of the restaurant was a place called “Babes” and on the other side there was an equally shady place called “Don’s Guns.” I’m curious to know if the change that Annah and I received from the Wendy’s was ever in some stripper’s bra or underwear at one time… eww… okay, maybe I don’t want to wonder that…

Four dollar cheesecake at Ruby Tuesday’s.

“Didn’t a bee sting you on the ass at one time?” – Annah, ever the blunt one. What made this the greatest was that it was said in front of Alison’s parents at dinner.

“He sacrifices his body for the pictures.” – Parnell, in reference to the photographer laying on his side on the dance floor at the reception to get a different angle for a picture.

Alison and Zander officially becoming Mr. and Mrs. Stachniak- planned for about a year, but to now have it official is very new and interesting.

Dancing the night away at the reception- I covered probably every style- from being spun around by Bota, to slowdancing with Jono, to going all West Side Story with a big group, to dancing in a circle and having a lovely photograph taken of us, etc. I can’t even begin to describe the fun I had.

“Once I found out that Zander was a student and not someone’s father…” – Callahan in his “Best Man Speech”

Being Maid of Honor in Alison and Zander’s wedding. What a treat that was and truly a blessing and an honor!! I love you both!!

The photographers were awesome and I’m so calling them up for my wedding…

Raptor, Hippopotamus Walk, “Do I step on one or Hippopotamus?” – Oh Danielle…

Lola… enough said…

Plopping on Alison’s parent’s grass when we finally arrived in Greenville… calling Alison on the phone and telling her she had a special delivery waiting for her at the front door…

Not flooding the Arby’s- that was good!

WTF is in your truck??!! (On your clothes, on your truck, etc.)

The mountains… what a change in the landscape from what I am used to!

Another excerpt in the life of me…

June 15, 2009 by strengthofheart

Today, my mother and I were driving to my Grandma’s house when two biker dudes ended up behind us. My darling mother tells me that there is “a rather handsome man” behind us. She had me laughing even more when she said that the man looked like “a cute Jack Bauer. Not Jack Bauer, but a cute one.” Haha! She cracks me up! So, anyway, we went to Merrillville to get some last minute traveling items for my funtastic (and yes, I meant to spell it that way) road trip to South Carolina.

In other news… I am begging, moaning, and pleading to go to the CMA Music Festival in 2010. Tickets are already onsale (they went onsale today) and so I’m hoping that if the job fairy comes along and lands in my lap, I’ll actually be able to afford to go. I think it would be tons of fun! Now if I could just find a friend to go with me… :-)

Anywho… I am still struggling to get things done before early Wednesday AM! Here’s to me becoming super-motivated and actually accomplishing my goals! And here’s to my actual reality of laying on the couch doing nothing of any import. Oh well, I have what??… about 30-some hours to complete it all before we leave for SC? And then I can sleep during the trip, which I’ll probably do no matter what I do at home before the beginning of the trip. Haha, I am so lame!

A little bit of everything

June 13, 2009 by strengthofheart

Hey everyone!! So, here I am trying to get the motivation to go get some work done. My goal is to have everything done and shipped off by Monday. Wouldn’t that just be spectacular? And then the only thing I will have to worry about is getting my tests done and then I move on to the next obstacle that I need to overcome… grad school. Haha, I called VU yesterday to get a meeting scheduled with an advisor and unfortunately, I have to wait until Monday for them to call me back. July is not gonna be an easy month on me, but hey, it’s my own fault really. I just can’t wait to have a Montessori Certificate and a Masters Degree!! I just have to work my ass off between now and then. And, I usually don’t swear, so you know I’m in deep when the higher than PG-rated words come out.

In other news, I had a Frosty-cino shake from Wendy’s today. Doesn’t beat the Dairy Queen Moolatte by any stretch of the imagination, but still refreshing. If you’re looking for thickness, that’s the shake for you, if you would rather focus on flavor then Dairy Queen is the way to go.

Also, I was informed Thursday night, that if I successfully complete this new therapy to fix my mental malfunction then my prize will be a trip to Ireland!! My family knows how much and how long I have wanted to go to Ireland so it’s extra incentive for me to get with the program and fix myself!! (Damn mental malfunction, it’s ruining my life!!) Anyway, wish me luck as I start a new journey with a new doctor in the mid-July. Little nervous, but it’s for the best.

One week till I see my bestie!!
